- Brians Art for Animals: "It was like 83 and North Ave. I think it is some sports bar now. They would have cool all-ages punk shows there one sunday a month. Two bookers did shows there, one was into bad metal and cover bands, and the other did these punk shows, and I think he also stuff at exit. But yup, Jawbox, Jawbreaker, NOFX, Sludgeworth, Screeching Weasel, Green Day, all played here and it was the only place in the suburbs to see a good show."
- Mike Byrne: "The Green Day shows at McGregors in Elmhurst were amazing. My brother and I videotaped 2 out of the 3 times they played there, they were supposed to play another time but it was cancelled. I would say the only two bands I saw at McGregors that came close to drawing the amount of people that Green Day did at McGregors would be Jawbreaker or Screeching Weasel. They played in July of 1990 at McGregors with Sludgeworth and the Effigies, then august of 1991 they were supposed to play McGregors but it was cancelled with Blatz and Gear. Then they played May of 1992 with Citizen Fish and the final time at McGregors was January of 1993 with all local bands opening. The best time I saw them live was june of 1992 they played in Beliot, WI at a small room behind a pizza place that held about 150 people, they were amazing that night.
Green Day were great at McGregors. McGregors was in a town called Elmhurst about 25 miles west of Chicago. It was in a strip mall and it was of those bars that would normally host cover bands and bad suburban Rock bands. Wednesdays and Sunday's the club would let this guy put on all ages shows there. My brother and I would go to see anyone play there. From 1990-1993 it was a regular stop for lots of touring bands.
it was on the Northwest corner of route 83 and North avenue. Everytime Green Day would play there the audience would get larger and larger. The funny thing is everytime I saw them there or the show in Beloit they would hardly gave any merch for sale. I think they either ran out before they got there or they just wouldn't have any. One time at McGregors they brought there silk screen in the van and if you brought them a blank shirt they would screen it for you for a few bucks."
